Bee Queen

Este mês, sou eu a rainha das abelhas! Por isso, if you excuse me...

Hello Honeybees,

This month I'm the Queen bee!!!
It arrived faster than I expected and here I am, on the dead line to sed the fabrics for the blocks.
It has been a long walk since I start looking for a special pattern to this bee. Lots of ideas came to my head but one image catch my attention. I found it on Little Miss Shabby’s blog and it is just perfect!
Her design was made thinking about using scraps, but I can’t resist to Kaffe Fasset’s new prints.
These 2 blocks are a little bit hard to make, one more than the other. So to simplify, I’ve already cut all the fabrics and made a small roll with all the fabric that you’ll need, and some extra strips, if you need it.

I would like you to do 2 blocks, nº 1 and nº 2, using the jade green solid in the middle of he squares. I’m sending an extra center square if you prefer to do 2 blocks n.º 2, rather than one block each (1 and 2).
All the strips are 1.5” and there are 16 different colors (prints and solids) to match as you wish for the squares rows.

I start sewing 4 strips together, alternating solid and prints.

After, I cut this strips in 1.5” rows, that will be sewn each other, side by side or 4 rows together, to make the center block of the block n. 1.

Please follow the images that I'm sending you and Little Miss Shabby instructions to help you, reporting to the graphic attached.

 Block n.º 1

Block n.º 2

Important follow lines:
- use an accurate ¼” seam allowance
- finished measurements of the pieces: strips wide 1”; square 1”x1”; center square 4”x4”
- finished measurements of the block: 12.5”x12.5”
- press all the seams to one side, to avoid bulking

Please send me back the leftover fabric. Thank you for your precious help.
I hope you will enjoy making these blocks. It needs a little patience but it’s very funny!

Hughs!!!

Hi Isabel,
I'm working on the blocks at the moment. I really like how you explained it in the papers you added, and of course I love how you rolled up the fabric with that cute ribbon!
When I finish the blocks, I'll show you on Flickr!
Bye, Muriël
